Long respected in ancient Chinese history, acupuncture seeks to restore the balance of the inner energy. According to ancient medicine, our inner energy helps keep us strong, healthy, and balanced. Problems arise within the body when this inner energy is having trouble flowing. Blockages in the flow can cause pain, discomfort, and even disease, according to tradition. Not to worry, though! The body’s inner flow can be reignited through stimulation of pressure and pinpoints close to the skin. That is what acupuncture is all about.
Using tiny needles inserted just under the skin, our acupuncture specialist will help release your stress and pain while you hold still. Acupuncture can be extremely relaxing for some patients as they are able to take a break from the world and enjoy a restful experience. For other patients, needles can cause anxiety and fear. If you have a problem with needles, we obviously recommend that you let your therapist know so they can help you through the fear or eliminate acupuncture from your treatment plan altogether. By stimulating the release of endorphins, the needles encourage the body to naturally relieve its own pain. Don’t worry, though, because you probably won’t even feel the needles enter your skin!
Common conditions that acupuncture has been known to help relieve are menstrual cramps, back pain, asthma, facial palsy, migraines, and chronic headaches. Most of our clients have great success managing all of these issues through acupuncture treatments!
Acupuncture, when done correctly, takes around 3-10 sessions depending on the condition of the patient. Additionally, patients need to be aware that these are real needles. Thus, we make sure that all of our needles are 100% sterile before performing a treatment. Lastly, if you are pregnant, extremely anxious, fasting, overly fatigued, or on blood thinners, we do not recommend acupuncture for you, but we offer many other treatments that may be viable options!
